  1. INSTALLATION AND IMAGE DISPLAY:

  3. HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG v1.5 for WIN 95 and WIN 3.1+
  4.  
  5. 1) INSTALLATION
  6.  
  7.    a) Make certain you are in Windows. The installation program
  8.    will not run in DOS. Be certain that you are in the proper OS,
  9.    either Windows 3.1+ or Windows 95, if you run a double boot
  10.    system.

  12.    b) Unzip ebkcat15.zip to a directory of choice which ideally
  13.    should be empty.    
  14.

  17.    c) In Windows 3.1+ from Program Manager's File Menu choose the 
  18.    Run option and type the path to the directory where you unzipped
  19.    ebkcat15.zip followed by setup.exe. Example: c:\temp\setup.exe 
  20.    and press Enter.

  22.    d) Alternatively, open the directory and file display for
  23.    your working directory wherein you unzipped the shareware archive, 
  24.    and double click on setup.exe.

  28.    e) From the Start Menu choose Settings ... Control Panel ...
  29.    Add/Remove Software. The installation wizard will find setup.exe 
  30.    if you type in the path to c:\temp. Alternatively, you can use 
  31.    Explorer to access the floppy disk, or directory where you 
  32.    unzipped the shareware archive, and double click on setup.exe.
  33.    
  34. 2) Either accept the default path and directory for installation or 
  35.    edit to your own specifications. Choose whether or not to install 
  36.    HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG images as the default screen 
  37.    saver in the Desktop Item of the Control Panel. The Media Album
  38.    cannot be omitted from the installation but this product
  39.    contains a simple one click uninstall procedure whose button
  40.    appears on the opening screen of the Media Album.

  43.    Notice that the word 'default' in the dialog is confusing. 
  44.    If you choose this option, HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG will 
  45.    be installed as just one of your screen saver choices under the name 
  46.    MINICAT in the proper alphabetical position. However, it will become 
  47.    the active screen saver immediately. If you do not enable this 
  48.    installation option, HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG will still 
  49.    be installed as a screen saver option but will not be active until 
  50.    deliberately enabled by you. See 'Your  Windows Screen Saver" in 
  51.    the album for information about HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG 
  52.    as a screen saver and how to configure it.

  54. 3) The installation will create a program group called MINICAT
  55.    with a single item in it also called MINICAT. You may change
  56.    the name of this icon to HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG if you 
  57.    wish but there are reasons not to do so as explained in the manual.

  59. 4) Double Click upon the MINICAT icon and the opening screen of
  60.    MINICAT is displayed. Notice the long horizontal button in the 
  61.    right window which is labeled HISTORY OF RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG. 
  62.    Click on this bar and you will be presented with the HISTORY OF 
  63.    RELIGION E-B00KS CATALOG album main screen.

  65.    If you pause at this opening screen for several seconds, 
  66.    a slide show of all images in the album will begin in the left
  67.    hand window. Notice that you can exit the program from this 
  68.    opening screen using the Exit Button. See the manual within
  69.    the Media Album for additional instructions.

  71. 5) IMAGE QUALITY: SUPER IMPORTANT!! DON'T SKIP THIS!!
  72.  
  73.    a) To view these images with all the brilliance and resolution they 
  74.    contain, set your monitor for 24 bit (16 million colors) if at all
  75.    possible. They look OK at a monitor setting of 256 colors but not 
  76.    superb. If you enable these images as a screen saver, they will look 
  77.    best at 640 x480 because the images then occupy most of the screen 
  78.    area. 
  79.    
  80.    b) Unless you have an old pre-1990 monitor, you already have 
  81.    installed software to change the resolution of monitor. Such 
  82.    software comes with all graphics cards and is preinstalled 
  83.    when you buy a computer in the retail market. I cannot give 
  84.    specifics here for the dozens of different graphics cards on 
  85.    the market. If you haven't discovered this monitor utility, which 
  86.    will be a Windows applet, consult the manual that came with 
  87.    your graphics card. If you lost it, call the store where you 
  88.    bought the computer or the manufacturer of the computer.
